what the heck does the over under mean when talking about nfl betting ? be specific please.

over means they are the underdog, and the amount of points is how much theyre the underdog or favorite. for instance if its cleveland vs. pittsburgh, and cleveland is +14.5, then they are severe underdogs

Over under means the score

like for example

if the Vikings were playing the Packers and the Over/Under was 40.5

then you bet on what the 2 teams combined score would be.

so if you bet over and the final score was 20-17 which 20 + 17 = 37 you would lose. But if the final score was 30-21 and 30+21 = 51 you would win

and also with this week the Vikings vs Steelers game the line is even which means you just bet on who you think would win.
And the Packers are favored by 7.5 points so if you bet the Browns and if they lose by 6 points then you would win even though the packers won they still didnt cover. So in order for the packers to win for betting would mean they would have to beat them by 8 or more points.

Depends how you see it. I usually see it as X points over/under. That means the TOTAL POINTS in the game and are you betting over or under that. If the over/under is 40 points then if the score is 21-20 then it was OVER, if the score was 10-3 it was UNDER. The LINE is where you see the +/-. That is about Giving points in the betting. If a team is favored by 10 points that that means if you bet for the other team WITH the points if they lose by 9 you still win, but if you bet straight up then you lose. If they WIN then betting straight up would have given you better winnings.

Over and Under is a bet on the total number of points that will be scored by both teams in the game. In the NFL, the "total" will usually be somewhere in the 30s or 40s.

The bet is simple: if you bet the over, you win if the total points in the game goes over the number. You lose if it doesn't.

If you bet the under, you win if the total points stay under the number. You lose if the points exceed the number.

The 10 points you are asking about has to be the total for ONE team. The bet would be if you think the team will go over or under 10 points for the game. (Must be Tampa going against the Patriots..hahaha)

The over under is the total of both scores, so if it is set at 44 and you bet the over, the total from both teams is added together at the end of the game and say its 21-27, its over because they total more than 44 13-21 is under. So if you bet the over you really want both teams to score alot, if you are betting i would recommend staying away from the over/under if you are just starting out.
