Seems in baseball even if you cheat and be honest about it(McGuire and many others) it's fine and dandy,BUT if you bet on baseball(Rose)and don't admit it at first then you are banned from the HOF.

Whats fine and dandy about McGwire not getting voted into the hall of fame? There is a character clause, and the voters questioned his character before he ever admitted to it. Bonds and Clemens will never get in either. It unfortunate that their record performances still stand and their stats are not taken away. But MLB is not in the habit of going and changing past outcomes. BTW steroids was not illegal when most of the guys took it. Mcqwire broke no rule. But they still question his character, so people are very concious about steroid use and its not overlooked. They mad a ban on steroids shortly after McQwire so he kind of started the whole controversy, so he consequently got the ball rolling.

Suggest you read some background on Pete Rose's gambling in baseball and his lifetime ban from baseball (which resulted in his HOF ineligibility). Then read the history of the Steroid Era (and McGWire) and how it will or may affect players' status and HOF eligibility. Hopefully, you'll learn the two scenarios are completely different and stand on their own merits.

McGWire will soon be learning it is NOT fine and dandy. His re-opened can of worms is now all over (and especially on his face). He delibertly held information from Congress in '05 (DIS-honest) and finally admitted his cheating yesterday. In both instances, it was done for what he thinks is best for "Big Mac".

McGwire isn't in the hall of fame and it's not likely he will be. Rose put himself on the ineligible list.
