If the software is so profitable, why are they willing to sell it for only 1/6 of its intrinsic value and potential? Why allow other people into the scene to take away market share?

It does have all the signs of a scam. Perhaps not an outright scam, but they may slowly overwhelm you with fees, and fail to deliver from their end, until you give up and walk away.
