If someone aspires to win money on sports gambling or poker, are they a bum? If they win at sports betting or poker consistently are they a bum? What is your opinion?

Some are, some are not.

There are some people who make a lot of money at sports betting, and at poker, and they certainly are not bums. They use a talent they have, just like a musician, an athelete, or a painter. And like all these occupations, some are good and make money, some are not and do not make money. And money, or lots of it, seems to provide respectability.

If our society has created a system to provide rewards for something, then the people who collect those rewards may actually be considered to be respectable and sometimes, pretty smart, lol.

I have noticed an decrease in my willingness to work due to the ease of money from gambling.

I dont htink you will become a bum, because it is still hard work no matter how you look at it. For me playing blackjack for 8 hours, is like taking an sat test for 8 hours, its very mentally taxing and you are tired when you are done.

In an effort to compensate i try to contribute to society in other ways, because i do understand what you are touching in on.

I make efforts to not be a bum, but i think in most peoples opinions, i am a bum.

I don't consider them bums. If that's their "talent", then I don't see any reason they shouldn't make the most of it.

Joan Rivers disagrees though... See about 2:00 minutes into the video. LOL! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la0nY3Su53M
