This question relates to sports betting. This is what you do.. you take the underdog with the spread...then, with someone else, in the same, you take the favorite but don't give a spread. Using this system you cannot lose, only win. For example..

Denver vs Portland...Denver is the underdog, and gets 7 points

You take $10 on Denver with the 7 point spread.
With someone else, you take $10 on Portland, but without giving a spread.

If Denver wins by any amount, you win that bet...
If Portland wins by more than 7, you win that bet...
In both these cases you are winning one and losing the other which cancels your bets.

BUT, IF PORTLAND WINS WITHIN 7 POINTS, YOU WIN BOTH BETS...GIVING YOU $20, WHILE THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN IS TYING.

Does anyone see any flaws in this system which will cause someone to lose money? Also, what do you guy think..

You'll have to find a sucker who would let you bet on the favorite without a spread.

Genius. You should write a book.

I'm sure there are tons of people sitting around ready to bet the underdogs with no spread.

In your scenario, you only win both bets if Portland wins within 7.

How about instead of betting on Portland straight up with someone, you bet Portland + 7 with someone.

Then you'd win both bets if EITHER team wins within 7. See, I just improved on your strategy.

Then instead of getting the favorite +7, make it +27, and then don't even waste time betting the other side.

yes you are assured to win but not assured to win your money back.unless you find some one dumb enough to take the even money favorite bet but i doubt it.
ANY real bookie online or in person wont be dumb enough to take that bet. But good luck with your theory cuz your going to need it.

Alternately, if Portland wins by less than 7, you're out $20.

Edit:
So, lemme get this straight...You bet on Portland with the spread. If they win at all, you win the bet, even if they don't make the spread? What's the point of taking the spread, then?

If you find the sucker who allows you to bet on the favorite without any spread, please send him to me. I have a bridge to sell.

The flaw is that if you bet $10 on the favorite Portland and there's no spread, then you will be giving odds. So your $10 bet might only win $5 for example.
