Why aren't americans free to bet?

why do americans have so many restrictions on them betting. and most of the big online bookmakers outside us will not take them on as customers unless it's poker.

why cant they bet on sport

Because we are so irresponsible with our money. The more options we have the more we use. I think I should be able to do what I want, but everyone else should be supervised and restricted. ;-)

Because they can't tax the money. Due to international laws (namely our own) the US can't tax money earned in some countries. Since almost all of the gambling sites are outside the US, the US can't control what they do. Also folks in Vegas and Atlantic city are PO'd because they think on line gambling takes away from their profits.

I don't really know, although I think it's pretty stupid that the law says you can own a gun, but can't bet. Go figure!

Because our maternalistic gov't feels the need to protect us from ourselves. We'll all bet ourselves into the poorhouse, unless they stop us.

Fundi Christians keep gambling out of my state, which sucks.

In one state betting is legal on sports and cards and just about everything else.

because Gov't hasn't figured out how to regulate it both for its profit, and to help stop cheating.

there are laws against betting on sports as not to have any ppl outside try to influence the games
and poker is one of the biggest betting games in the us
